die-hard

As previously mentioned, Justin and I are in the Dominican Republic. We arrived yesterday afternoon and quickly acclimated to the perfect weather, putting our winter hats, gloves, and fleece in the bottom of the suitcase. As we walked to our room, Justin commented, "Ahhhhh. Home sweet home. Well, second home. Or casa dulce casa."

After returning from dinner, we discovered the spotty internet was actually working, so we hopped online to chat with Justin's sister and parents. We gave them a webcam for Christmas, so we now chat regularly via Skype. During our conversation, they told us that the UNC game was just starting. Hmmm...would we be lucky enough to find it on our tv amidst countless channels of Latin soaps, dubbed movies, and baseball? It was worth a shot.

Alas, after three rounds of all the channels, there was no basketball. So, Justin decides to call his sister back and ask if she can help. She finds an old radio, searches for Woody Durham's voice (during halftime no less), and puts it up to the microphone on the webcam. After a few minutes of volume issues and making sure it was the right station, Woody's voice comes floating out of our computer speakers into our hotel room in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Amazing.

The game was intense, so everytime the radio went to static, we (mostly Justin) yelled at the computer screen. "Nooooooo...come back!!!" The last three minute everything was working until about 30 seconds to go and we lost it. Nothing. No score, no muffled yelling, no Haley coming back to fix it. Justin scrambled to see what the gametracker says but it's on a delay, so nothing yet. Then, there it was. 83-82 Final.

Are we UNC fans? I think so. Die hard in the DR.
